Environmentally conscious business practises

The vast majority of our team members "telecommute" - i.e. working from home offices. This means that thousands of gallons of fuel that would have been consumed in commuting to a traditional work environment is saved annually. ThinkHost's methods of documentation also means that we have very little in the way of paper archives; business information is  stored electronically. We encourage the use of notebook computers amongst our staff as a means of conserving electricity. The electricity we do use, also taking into account used by our servers, is 100% powered by renewable sources! We also donate a substantial amount each year in free hosting services to environmental groups!

It's always been an important part of our company operations to actively support non-profit organizations and progressive companies in a multitude of areas - technology, humanitarian and environmental to name a few. We currently offer free and discounted hosting to non-profit community groups and progressive companies, plus other related services and options for fundraising. 

It is our goal that through the provision of sponsored hosting that we can be pro-active in helping to make our world a better, greener, kinder and safer place. One of our objectives is to become widely recognized as a progressive web hosting company and to act as a model for others to follow.

Our staff undergo ongoing self-directed training and are provided with coaching from management to assist in maintaining a high quality service. ThinkHost, Inc. utilizes the services of various external suppliers and contractors from many countries to help enrich our company with different skills and viewpoints. This also provides us with the privilege of learning more about the different cultures of our world. Commitment to Open Source software.

Open Source Software refers to applications where the source code is able to be examined and modified by the person using it. Huge programming communities have sprung up around Open Source software and ThinkHost is a strong supporter of the concept. ThinkHost uses many Open Source applications - everything from our server operating software to the applications we use for our client forums.
